2Nairobi — City Tour

Visit the Karen Blixen Museum, set on the farm that inspired Out of Africa. Then to the Giraffe Centre where Rothschild giraffes eat pellets from your palm at eye level on the elevated viewing platform. Afternoon at the Daphne Sheldrick elephant orphanage for the mud-bath feeding session.

3Amboseli National Park

Drive to Amboseli beneath the ice-capped summit of Kilimanjaro. Africa's highest mountain dominates the landscape on clear mornings, providing an iconic backdrop for the largest elephant herds in Kenya. Over 600 bird species have been recorded in this compact park.

A complete day exploring Amboseli's swamps, woodlands, and open grasslands. Large elephant family groups move through the reeds and acacia groves, lion prides hunt the floodplain edges, and cheetahs chase gazelle across the open ground.

5Lake Nakuru National Park

Drive to Lake Nakuru, where the alkaline lake supports one of the largest flamingo populations in the world. The famous pink mass on the water shifts and swirls with the birds' movements. The park is also a rhino sanctuary for both black and white rhinos — one of the best places in Kenya to see them.

6Masai Mara — Arrival

Drive south to the Masai Mara National Reserve — Kenya's crown jewel. The rolling grasslands of the Mara stretch across the horizon and seamlessly connect to the Serengeti to the south. Afternoon game drive introduces you to the resident lion prides and cheetah families.

A full day in the Mara voted one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa. From July to October, the wildebeest migration fills every horizon. 8Fly to the Serengeti

Cross the border into Tanzania by light aircraft, landing at Seronera airstrip in the heart of the Serengeti. Afternoon game drive in the central plains as the Serengeti's resident lion and cheetah populations come alive in the golden afternoon light. Hippo pools glow in the sunset.
