Tsavo East and West together form Kenya's largest national park system, covering over 20,000 km² of diverse habitat from semi-arid plains to rocky lava flows, volcanic hills, and palm-lined rivers. Tsavo East is famous for its red elephants — tuskers that turn red-orange after rolling in the iron-rich dust — while Tsavo West offers the Mzima Springs, where crystal-clear water bubbles up from lava rock and hippos can be viewed through an underwater window.
