Day-by-Day Itinerary
1Arusha → Tarangire National Park
Drive from Arusha into Tarangire National Park for a full afternoon game drive. Tarangire is one of Tanzania's most underrated parks — in the dry season, the Tarangire River becomes the only reliable water source for hundreds of kilometres, drawing the largest elephant concentrations in East Africa. Ancient baobab trees scatter across the landscape, some more than a thousand years old. Return to Arusha for the evening.
Insider Fact
Tarangire's elephant herds are among the largest in Africa, with seasonal aggregations of 300–500 individuals around the river during the dry months.

2Lake Eyasi Cultural Experience & Karatu
Drive to Lake Eyasi for an afternoon with the Hadzabe — one of the world's last surviving hunter-gatherer communities, living in the same way their ancestors have for tens of thousands of years. Accompany a Hadzabe hunting party through the bush, then visit Datoga blacksmiths who forge traditional jewellery and tools using techniques unchanged for centuries. Continue to your lodge in Karatu.
Insider Fact
The Hadzabe speak a click-consonant language and are one of only a handful of populations globally that still subsist primarily by hunting and gathering.

3Ngorongoro Crater Full Day
A full-day guided descent into the Ngorongoro Crater — the world's largest intact volcanic caldera and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 260 km² Crater floor is a self-contained ecosystem holding all of Tanzania's Big Five in permanent residence, including one of the last viable black rhino populations in the country.
Insider Fact
Ngorongoro's black rhino population — roughly 25 individuals — is one of the most accessible in Tanzania, and the open Crater floor makes sightings far more likely here than in the bush.
