Day-by-Day Itinerary
1Nairobi → Hell's Gate & Lake Naivasha
Drive from Nairobi into the Great Rift Valley to Hell's Gate National Park — one of Kenya's most unusual parks, where visitors can freely cycle or walk among zebra, giraffe, and buffalo without a vehicle. The park's dramatic red-rock gorge and geothermal steam vents create a landscape unlike anywhere else in East Africa. Afternoon at Lake Naivasha before checking in.
Insider Fact
Hell's Gate is named for a break in the cliffs once used by herds of game as a migration corridor — and uniquely in Kenya, it's one of the only parks where visitors can walk and cycle freely among wild animals.

2Lake Nakuru National Park
Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. The alkaline lake draws vast flamingo flocks in season, coating the shorelines pink. The park is a declared rhino sanctuary — one of Kenya's few reliable places to see both black and white rhino on the same drive. Lion, leopard, and Rothschild's giraffe are also resident.
Insider Fact
Lake Nakuru was Kenya's first declared rhino sanctuary — the fenced perimeter protects approximately 25 black rhino and over 70 white rhino from poaching.

3Masai Mara National Reserve — Arrival
Drive into the Masai Mara National Reserve — Kenya's most celebrated wildlife area and one of the world's great safari destinations. The Mara River bisects the reserve; the woodlands and open plains hold year-round populations of lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, and buffalo. A game drive on arrival covers the most active areas in late afternoon.

4Full Day in the Masai Mara
A full day of game drives across the Masai Mara. The reserve is home to one of Africa's most productive predator ecosystems year-round — and from July to October, the Great Migration brings more than 1.5 million wildebeest crossing the Mara River in one of nature's most dramatic spectacles. Your guide navigates the reserve based on real-time tracking and decades of local experience.
Insider Fact
The Mara River crossings during the Great Migration are not scheduled events — wildebeest gather at the bank for hours before committing to the crossing. Your guide reads herd behaviour to position you in advance.
